Prepare End of Project Report

As you approach the end of the delivery of the project you need to prepare for Review 4, Review of Delivery. There are 2 tasks for this; update the lessons learned log and prepare an End of Project Report.

You should spend time before the review bringing your Lessons Learnt Log up to date. It is easy to have neglected this during the project’s delivery, so as things begin to wind down you should take the opportunity to update it whilst the lessons are fresh in your mind. These lessons can then form part of your End Project Report and be discussed at the review. Try to get as many people involved in the lessons learned process as possible at this stage, different perspectives could give different lessons for the same event.

The next thing you should do is prepare an End of Project Report. This is then presented at Review 4. You will likely need to schedule meetings with members of the Project Team and Board to gather information to produce this. Try to be as honest as possible in this report about any short comings with the project as this feedback can be used to influence future projects and policy decisions.

Once you have completed the End of Project Report you take this to Review 4, Review of Project Delivery. During Review 4, the project delivered is compared to the project in the original PID in order to evaluate if the project has met its goals and if it has done them within time, cost and to the desired quality.
