Local Public Service Agreement 2
In September 2005, Sheffield City Council agreed its second Local Public Service Agreement (LPSA) with the Government. The agreement contains ambitious targets to improve performance for a range of public services that have a significant impact upon local neighbourhoods and residents’ quality of life.
These targets seek to achieve measurable improvements in a number of key areas including: educational attainment, helping people into work, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, and reducing health inequalities. The targets are based on our local priorities for improvement as identified in the City Strategy and our Corporate Plan.
The agreement has been developed with a number of partner agencies who will play an important role in delivering the targets. Progress on achieving the LPSA will be regularly reported to Sheffield First, the Local Strategic Partnership, and the targets will form a key component of the Sheffield First Local Area Agreement. In addition, the targets will be incorporated into the Council’s existing performance management arrangements and regular reports will go to senior management and Members.
The Council will receive an upfront grant of £1.25m from the Government to fund a range of projects to help realise the targets. Should all the targets be achieved in full the Council and its partners could receive £14.2m in performance reward grant.
