Local Public Service Agreement 1
In March 2001 Sheffield City Council entered into a Local Public Service Agreement (LPSA) with the Government. The Council agreed to improve its performance in twelve service areas above the level anticipated without the agreement in return for a Performance Reward Grant and greater flexibility from Government in the way these services were delivered. Success in delivering the agreement was monitored using a set of national and local performance indicators for each target.
The focus for LPSA 1 was to deliver enhanced outcomes in the areas of priority for Sheffield residents and our city partners. Our target outcomes supported four broad themes:
- Giving Sheffield’s young people the best possible start in life
- Promoting the economic and physical transformation of the City
- Making Sheffield a cleaner and safer City to live and work in
- Developing a modern Council and promoting new ways of delivering services
The agreement was concluded in March 2004. We sucessfully achieved 8.3 of the 12 targets. As a result, Sheffield City Council received a performance reward grant of £8.54m.
More information about the individual targets can be obtained from Matthew Mellor in the Corporate Policy Unit, Tel: 273 4777 or email: matthew.mellor@sheffield.gov.uk.
