One Children's Workforce
Background and Context
The background and context to the concept of Integrated Working and the phrase “One Children’s Workforce”.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) produced Every Child Matters Outcomes for children to make sure that children are healthy, safe and happy in all parts of their lives. The basis of that work has been further developed into the Children's Plan, a ten year strategy to make England the best place in the World for children and young people to grow up.
The Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) works for children and young people to make sure that the best possible staff are working together in the pursuit of common objectives - what's best for children and young people, their families and carers.
With this in mind, the CWDC have produced the One Children’s Workforce Framework, supported by a self-assessment Tool.
The Framework
- Everybody I deal with works together to do what’s best for me
- I understand what people are talking about and how people are working for me
- Everybody that I work with wants the best for me
- Everybody is working together to give me the support I need
- Good workers with the right skills to help me
- Everybody I work with knows the help and support I need
- I know the staff members that I work with well and know that my safety is important to them
- I know the most important thing for the service is that things work out well for me
The One Children's Workforce Tool
This is an online database to help every Children’s Trust establish the progress they have made in developing One Children’s Workforce. A workforce that is making the best contribution to Every Child Matters (ECM) Outcomes and the Children and Young People’s Plan.
This tool
- Helps us to measure how well the children’s workforce is working. Are the workforce working together as a team or do they need to do more teamwork?
- Shows people what they need to do to provide an excellent service for children and young people
- Gives children and young people a chance to have their say.
