International Day Against Homophobia
Kicking Off Against Homophobia!
Saturday 17th May 2007
Barker’s Pool (by Sheffield City Hall)
11.30am - 12noon
Sheffield will once again be showing its support for the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) through a one-minute 'noise', arranged by the Centre for HIV and Sexual Health and the Council.
A number of key speakers will be present to pledge their support and call for an end to homophobia worldwide, concluding with the one-minute noise.
We hope you, your friends, families, and partners will be able to attend.
Background Information
IDAHO is held on May 17th every year and is designed to raise awareness of the impact of homophobia on the lives of lesbian, gay and bisexual people throughout the world and also on the lives of their families, friends and colleagues.
Demonstrations and awareness raising events take place around the globe in places as far afield as America, Europe, Iran and China. Sheffield is delighted to be taking part in IDAHO and to be united in our stand against homophobia with our friends and allies in other parts of the UK and in the world.
