Race
Sheffield is a multi-ethnic city, made up of many different communities. As a Council we are working to ‘mainstream’ race equality into all areas of our work. The aim is to ensure that the different needs of all our communities are taken into account when we plan and deliver services. We also want Sheffield to be a cohesive city, where its diversity makes us a more successful city. For detailed information on the make-up of Sheffield – follow this link to a report on the 2001 Census data.
This section has links to some of the main pieces of work that the Council has produced, such as our Race Equality Scheme, and the Best Value Review of Services to Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) People. Please use this section of our site as a guide to the range of race equality work we are involved in as an authority.
Useful information for BME Women can be found at: South Yorkshire BME Women Online.
