The new Commission is a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) and an independent influential champion whose purpose is to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people and protect human rights.
The EHRC will take an active role in helping to achieve change to benefit some of the most vulnerable and least well represented people in our society.
 
DIALOG is the specialist unit of the Employer's Organisation for Local Government, providing information, advice and practical guidance to local authorities on diversity issues in employment and service delivery.  They are also responsible for publishing the guidance documents for the Equality Standard for Local Government.
 
The UK's only registered charity which specifically helps adults who are Transsexual, Gender Dysphoric or Transgender.  The site also contains information for those who are Intersex and offers advice for anyone experiencing or encountering gender issues in their work.
 
The Unit is committed to building a strong civil society where people of all races and backgrounds are valued, and participate on equal terms.  The site covers issues including Community Cohesion, faith, and race equality and diversity.
 
A vibrant, not-for-profit organisation run by and for Sheffield's disabled people delivering training and consultation services and working in partnership with public bodies, private sector employers and the voluntary sector to help make services more accessible for everyone.
 
An independent race and refugee news network, a project of the Institute of Race Relations based in London.
 
Press for Change is a political lobbying and educational organisation, which campaigns to achieve equal civil rights and liberties for all transgender people in the United Kingdom, through legislation and social change.
 
The national charity for women and children experiencing domestic abuse, offering a range of services to increase women's choices and give them access to professional support.
 
A multi-agency partnership of voluntary and statutory sector agencies working together to combat domestic abuse.  The site contains information about the areas of work the forum is involved in.  Membership of the Forum is free, and open to any agency or individual whose work brings them into contact with domestic abuse.  Visit the site to join the forum's database for domestic abuse related mailings. 
 
Stonewall is a campaigning organization for equality and justice for lesbians, gay men and bisexuals.  Their site includes information about Employment Equality (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2003, discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and good practice in relation to lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
 
Details the work of The Minister for Women and the Women and Equality Unit (WEU) which develops policies relating to gender equality and ensures that work on equality across Government as a whole is co-ordinated.
 
The national charity working to end domestic violence against women and children.  The charity works locally and nationally advocating for abused women and children in order to ensure their safety.
 
This website is a new resource for women across the region, providing a level playing field on which women can find information, express their views and get questions answered.
 
2007 has been designated 'European Year of Equal Opportunities for All'. The aim of the Year is to launch a major debate on the benefits of diversity for European societies. It will also seek to make people in the European Union more aware of their rights to enjoy equal treatment and a life free of discrimination.
