Business Continuity: preparing your business
Incidents such as fire, flooding, loss of suppliers, and failure of IT affect businesses on a regular basis.
Within 6 months of the 1996 Manchester Bomb 250 businesses closed down.
By planning how to get your businesses up and running again after an incident you give yourself a much better chance of survival. A simple plan will help you retain custom and generate profit.
Basic Business Continuity - the Five Steps
- Understanding the risks your business faces and identify its key functions.
- Identify resources required to resume the appropriate level of service delivery.
- Develop a contingency plan to meet the level of delivery identified in Stage 2.
- Train your staff, make them aware of the importance of Business Continuity.
- Exercise your plans and regularly review and update them.
