Comprehensive Performance Assessment 2007 by The Audit Commission
Sheffield is rated an ‘Excellent’ Council
On 21 December 2007, the Audit Commission awarded Sheffield City Council the maximum rating of 4 for its CPA Corporate Assessment. This means that Sheffield is on track to maintain its ‘excellent’ 4-star status when the national CPA ratings are announced in February 2008.
The Audit Commission’s report highlights the strength of the Council’s political and managerial leadership and the quality of its staff, as well as praising the strength of partnership in Sheffield. The report also recognises that the Council is making the right changes to maintain its rate of improvement.
What is the CPA Corporate Assessment?
The 3-yearly Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) Corporate Assessment measures how effectively the whole council is working corporately, and with its partners, to improve services and deliver improved outcomes for local people. More information on the Corporate Assessment and the wider CPA framework can be found on the Audit Commission website.
Sheffield’s 2007 CPA Corporate Assessment inspection weeks concluded on 14 September.
The Council provided the inspection team with a huge amount of documentary evidence, and further evidence has been gathered during numerous focus groups and dozens of officer and Member interviews. The total number of officers involved in the assessment was well into the hundreds. We would like to thank everyone who has contributed for their hard work.
