How Can I Register to Vote?
Every September we send a form to every household in the city to check that the details we hold on the Electoral Register are correct. You must confirm your details to be registered to vote. If no changes are required you can confirm by telephone or via the internet but if any of the details we hold are incorrect, you will need to amend them on the form and send this back to us.
Children who are 16 or 17 may be listed on the form. They will be included on the Electoral Register but are not eligible to vote until they are 18. Please check that their date of birth on the form is correct.
Please note it is a legal requirement that you respond to this form.
To register at any other time of year, for example, if you move house or are new to Sheffield, you will need to download and return the application form at the bottom of this page or contact us and we will provide you with a form.
If you reside at two addresses or are a student studying in a different city you can register in both places. You can only vote once in a parliamentary election but in local elections you can vote in both places, providing they are different areas.
