Election Results 2004

Labour has retained control of Sheffield City Council.  After the results for all 28 wards had been counted, the overall make-up of the Council is:
 
Labour - 44 seats
Liberal Democrats - 37 seats
Conservatives - 2 seats
Green Party - 1 seat

The overall turnout in Sheffield's first all postal vote election was 43.9%. In the local government elections last year, the voter turnout was 29.53%.  With the first postal vote for the city, the Government’s target was to increase turnout by 10%, giving Sheffield 39% to aim for.
