Why have I received a Reminder/Final Notice?
If we do not receive your payment on or before your due date, recovery action will begin without delay.
The first time you do not pay an instalment on time we will send you a reminder. This reminder will inform you that we have not received your instalment and ask you to bring your account up to date straight away. If you do not pay straight away, we will summons you to the Magistrates Court - see I have received a summons.
We will add the court costs to your account.
If you have received a reminder and brought your account up to date straight away, we will take no further action and you will be able to continue to pay monthly.
If you fail to pay another instalment on or before the due date we will send you a second reminder. If you do not pay straight away we will issue a summons and you will have to pay the additional court costs.
If you bring your account up to date, you will be able to continue to pay monthly, but if you do not pay a third instalment by the due date, you will not be allowed to continue to pay by instalments. We will send you a final notice. The full balance of the remainder of your annual Council Tax bill will be payable straight away.
If you do not pay your bill in full we will issue a Magistrates Court summons with court costs added to your account.
Please Remember
If you receive any notice from the City Council regarding the non-payment of your Council Tax, do not ignore it! Doing this may mean that further action will be taken with additional court costs being incurred.
