Council and Scrutiny Boards Annual Reports 2004/2005
FOREWORD BY THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE
I am pleased to present to Council the fifth series of Annual Reports of the Authority’s Scrutiny Boards. Since their introduction in the 2000/2001 Municipal Year, the Boards have made an important and increasing contribution to the effective delivery of the Authority’s services and this year’s Annual Reports give a clear indication of this contribution.
The five Boards have continued to be involved in all aspects of the work of the City Council and together with their vital role of reviewing Executive Decisions, have brought forward valuable recommendations for improving the Authority’s services
The Annual Reports provide clear evidence of the sheer volume of work undertaken by the Scrutiny Boards and also clear testament to the commitment and enthusiasm shown by their Members in general and their Chairs in particular.
I have no doubt that, in the future, the work of the Boards will continue to play an increasingly important part in the work of the Authority.
It is with great pleasure therefore that I commend the Annual Reports of the Scrutiny Boards to the City Council.
