REPORT OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE, LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE | MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL 5TH JULY, 2006 |
At its meeting on 14th June, 2006, the Cabinet received a report of the Chief Executive containing details of proposals for the City Council to sign up to a Member Development Charter. In accordance with the arrangements approved by the Council at its meeting on 5th April, 2000, the report, together with a recommendation of the Cabinet thereon, as set out below, is referred to the City Council for consideration:- | |
MEMBERS’ DEVELOPMENT CHARTER | |
The Chief Executive submitted a report containing details of proposals for the City Council to sign up to a Member Development Charter. It was stated that the Council’s Comprehensive Performance Assessments in 2002 and 2004 had specifically identified Member development as an improvement area and that the Member Development Charter, which was a national set of standards, was widely used by Councils throughout the Country as best practice guidance and provided Councils with a structured approach to Member development. A copy of the Member Development Charter was circulated with the report. | |
RESOLVED: That authority be given for the City Council to sign up to the Member Development Charter as now circulated. | |
(NOTE: 1. This item is referred for approval by the City Council and cannot therefore, be called-in for scrutiny; and | |
2. Copies of the report have been circulated to all Council Members with the Council Summons.) | |
