REPORT OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE, LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL 5TH JULY, 2006
 
 
 
 
            At its meeting on 14th June, 2006, the Cabinet received a report of the  Director, Corporate Resources, containing details of the City Council’s Financial Outturn Position for 2005/06.
           In accordance with the arrangements approved by the Council at its meeting on 5th April, 2000, the report, together with a recommendation of the Cabinet thereon, as set out below, is referred to the City Council for consideration:-
 
 
FINANCIAL OUTTURN POSITION 2005/2006
             Pursuant to the provisions of the City Council’s Financial Framework, the Director of Corporate Resources submitted a report containing details of the City Council’s Financial Outturn Position for 2005/06 together with an explanation of variations from the approved budget allocations.  The report also contained a summary of the outturn position for the Housing Revenue Account and a summary of the outturn position on the Capital Programme for 2005/06.  The Director pointed out that the Council had achieved a broadly balanced position on its General Fund Revenue Account for the fourth consecutive year, despite the problems with the South Yorkshire Trading Standards Unit.  She also pointed out that a balanced position had been achieved on the Housing Revenue Account..     
             Appendix 1 to the report set out details of the General Fund Revenue Account for 2005/06 and Appendix 2 contained details for the Collection Fund Account.  Appendix 3 set out details of the Housing Revenue Account whilst Appendix 4 showed the position in respect of the Capital Programme for 2005/06.
RESOLVED: That (a) the City Council’s Financial Outturn Position for 2005/06 as set out in the report now submitted be noted; and
            (b) approval be given to a request to carry forward a £187,000 underspend relating to the Grant Aid budget which is to be earmarked to support local voluntary and community sector organisations.
 
(NOTE: 1. This item is a matter which is reserved for approval by the City Council and cannot therefore, be called-in for scrutiny; and
              2. Copies of the report have been circulated to all Council Members with the Council Summons.)
