Protocol for the Scrutiny of Health in Sheffield

 
REPORT OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE, LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
2ND NOVEMBER, 2005
 
 
 
 
 
 
            At its meeting held on 19th October, 2005, the Children and Young People Scrutiny and Policy Development Board considered information reported by the Assistant Chief Executive, Legal and Governance with regard to the adoption of a Protocol for the carrying out of Health Scrutiny in Sheffield.
            In accordance with the arrangements approved by the City Council, the draft Protocol, together with a recommendation of the Children and Young People Scrutiny and Policy Development Board thereon, acting in its statutory capacity for the Scrutiny of Health on behalf of the City Council, as set out below, is referred to the City Council for consideration:-
 
 
PROTOCOL FOR THE SCRUTINY OF HEALTH IN SHEFFIELD
 
            The Assistant Chief Executive, Legal and Governance (a) referred to the decision taken by the Board at its meeting held on 15th June, 2005, approving, so far as it was concerned, a Protocol for the carrying out of Health Scrutiny in Sheffield and requesting that any substantial comments on the terms of the Protocol made by the City's Health Trusts in the course of their consideration of the Protocol be reported back to the Board, (b) reported that the Health Trusts in the City, together with the South Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust and the South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority had approved the Protocol without amendment and (c) stated that the Health and Community Care Scrutiny and Policy Development Board, at its meeting held on 17th October, 2005, had also approved the Protocol in so far as it was concerned.
 
            Following this process, the Protocol would need to be submitted to the City Council for approval and inclusion within the Constitution.
 
RESOLVED: That in the light of the information now reported, approval be given for the "Protocol for the Scrutiny of Health in Sheffield" to be submitted to the City Council for approval and subsequent inclusion within the Constitution of the City Council.
