Report re Jordanthorpe Extra Care Housing

REPORT OF THE ASSISTANT CHIEF EXECUTIVE, LEGAL AND GOVERNANCE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL 5TH DECEMBER, 2007
                     
At its meeting on 14th November, 2007, the Cabinet received a report of the Executive Director, Neighbourhoods and Community Care, on proposals for the disposal of a site comprising 0.51 hectares at Dyche Road in Jordanthorpe for the development of extra care housing.  In accordance with the arrangements approved by the Council at its meeting on 5th April, 2000, the report, together with a recommendation of the Cabinet thereon, as set out below, is referred to the City Council for consideration:-
 

JORDANTHORPE EXTRA CARE HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

                 The Executive Director, Neighbourhoods and Community Care, submitted a report on proposals for the disposal of a site comprising 0.51 hectares at Dyche Road in Jordanthorpe for the development of extra care housing, in order to enable the scheme to be developed using grant funding secured from the Housing Corporation. The Executive Director stated that the scheme would provide 60 flats, of which 45 will be for affordable rent; 9 for shared ownership and 6 for outright sale. She added that the proposed development was a key priority in enabling the delivery of the sheltered housing investment programme.RESOLVED: That (a) subject to the consent of the Secretary of State, confirmation that the scheme will be grant funded by the Housing Corporation, and the grant of detailed planning permission, approval be given for the site now indicated at Dyche Road Jordanthorpe to be sold to South Yorkshire Housing Association for development of an extra care housing scheme;                (b) the Executive Director, Neighbourhoods & Community Care, in consultation with the Head of Corporate Property be authorised to agree terms for the sale of the site for the purpose now mentioned, at nil value (which reflects the City Council’s tenure mix, size and design requirements); and  (c) the Head of Corporate Property be authorised to instruct the Assistant Chief Executive, Legal and Governance to complete the necessary legal documentation and the Assistant Chief Executive, Legal and Governance be authorised to complete such documentation.
(NOTE: 1. This item is referred for consideration by the City Council and cannot therefore be called-in for scrutiny; and
