Corporate Code of Conduct and Monitoring Officer Protocol
REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR
OF LEGAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES
MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL
6TH OCTOBER, 2004
At its meeting on 22nd September 2004, the Cabinet received a joint report of the Chief Executive and the Director of Legal and Administrative Services containing recommendations in respect of the adoption of a Code of Corporate Governance and a Monitoring Officer Protocol.
In accordance with the arrangements approved at the Council at its meeting on 5th April, 2000, the decision of the Cabinet, as set out below, is referred to the City Council for consideration:-
CODE OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND MONITORING OFFICER PROTOCOL
The Chief Executive and the Director of Legal and Administrative Services submitted a joint report containing proposals for the adoption of a Code of Corporate Governance for the Authority, the basic principles of which required the Council to carry out its functions in a way that demonstrates accountability, effectiveness, integrity, inclusiveness and was up to date, together with a protocol for the discharge of the duties of the Council’s Monitoring Officer.
RESOLVED: That the arrangements set out in Code of Corporate Governance for the Authority attached to the report now submitted, together with the protocol for the discharge of the duties of the Council’s Monitoring Officer Protocol, be approved and adopted for inclusion in the Council’s Constitution and implementation forthwith, thereby consolidating existing policy and practice.
(NOTE: 1. This matter is reserved for consideration by the Council and cannot, therefore, be called in for scrutiny; and
2. Copies of the report are circulated to all Council Members with the Council Summons.)
