On the first Wednesday of the month at 2.00 p.m. there is a meeting of all Councillors (Full Council) and this is chaired by the Lord Mayor (Councillor Jane Bird). The meeting takes place in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall. Some important decisions can only be taken at Full Council, such as setting the Council's budget.

Each May there is the Council's Annual General Meeting that appoints a new Lord Mayor and Deputy Lord Mayor and also appoints Councillors to all the various Council meetings, such as the Cabinet.
