SUMMARY OF ISSUES DISCUSSED AT THE PANEL MEETING HELD IN STOCKSBRIDGE ON 19TH OCTOBER 2005
The following matters were discussed at the Area Panel meeting held on
19th October 2005, in relation to the application for outline planning permission for the Corus works ‘Site A’.
- Provision and proportion of affordable housing on Site A and extra care housing.
- Education provision: the extent to which any new residential development at Stocksbridge/Deepcar will require additional classroom space at the High School. The responsibility of the developer to mitigate the impact of additional housing.
- Consultation process and inclusion of views submitted as part of the consultation on the development brief.
- Traffic management and road safety, including access to and from the site and to the bypass.
- Drainage and the proposed construction of a treatment works on-site.
- The nature of industrial use on Site B, reserved for a job creation area.
- Noise from the remaining works and potential noise from industrial use on Site B and the adequacy of the proposed landscaped mound in shielding Site A from noise.
- The adequacy of existing Health care facilities.
- Leisure facilities: the effect of additional demand on existing and the development of new facilities.
- Need for holistic approach/response by the community.
