Report to Area Panel re Neighbourhood Renewal Funding

NEIGHBOURHOOD RENEWAL FUNDING 2006-08: UPDATED PROGRAMME

REPORT OF AREA CO-ORDINATOR

Background

The Panel is allocated £205,835 each year over the next two years to meet (a) neighbourhood renewal targets and (b) priorities from the Area Panel action plan.  This was presented as the ‘Local Action Plan’ to the public Area Panel meeting on 16th February 2006.  The Burngreave Local Action Plan was approved by Sheffield First Partnership (Technical Committee) on 23rd February 2006.

The original budget has had to be slightly revised to take into account (a) a commitment to maintain funding (with New Deal for Communities) for the Burngreave Family Support project, as part of Children & Young People’s Service, and (b) the decision to provide full-time support for the Area Panel from the area action officer (presently a half-time post).

This has been achieved by slight reductions in budgets of ‘roadshows and communications’ and ‘safe routes to school’.  This is unlikely to affect the Panels’ ability to meet local priorities as the roadshows are to be held in partnership with other agencies, and the safe routes to school investment is also accessed via the school travel plan unit of DEL (Development Services).

£15,000 over the two years is presently unallocated.  This funding will allow for a flexible use of additional investment until March 2008, subject to approval by a future Area Panel meeting.
