Broomhill Central and Nether Edge Area Panel Area Co-ordinators Report

BROOMHILL, CENTRAL AND NETHER EDGE AREA PANEL
MEETING THURSDAY 7 JULY  2005
AREA CO-ORDINATORS REPORT

PURPOSE OF REPORT

To update Members on progress in the implementation of the Area Plan, identify key issues of importance to the Area and answer any outstanding questions

OUTSTANDING QUESTIONS

Q         With regard to the application for planning permission for development on the Gordon Lamb site off Ecclesall Road, will the path by the River Porter be continuous?

A         The Councils Planning Department state that the footpath will form a continuous link along the river from Summerfield Street to Napier Street

Q         A member of the public questioned whether, in the light of the accident on Cemetery Road on 2nd February, 2004, could Highways Management Services report on how a proposed new vehicular access to the bend below Pearl Street could fail to make an already dangerous section of that road even more hazardous, especially to pedestrians who will share the access.

A            awaiting response

ISSUES

Public Rights of Way Improvement Plan – Public consultation
Attached is a copy of the above plan for comment by 15 August.  There is unfortunately no time to discuss the document qt this meeting but anyone is free to comment on the contents.  Though the Panel Area is limited in green and open space there are issues which are quite pertinent, including access to river valleys and also equality of access.

The Future of Services for Children and Young People in Sheffield
The attached document gives details of consultation events on the above reorganisation.  Though some of the dates will have passed by the time of this meeting, there remain opportunities to attend certain of the events.
