The Facts
It's easy to think there is more crime than there is. Sheffield's figures for the last 12 months compared to the previous twelve months show:
- Violent crime is down by 7%
- Domestic burglary has been reduced by 2%
- Criminal damage has been reduced by 4.4%
- Fires started deliberately have fallen by 10%
The crime that you are most likely to experience is vehicle crime, and that is decreasing.
- Theft or unauthorised taking of vehicles has been reduced by 5%
- The number of vehicles broken into has been reduced by 2.5%
Many organisations across Sheffield are responsible for these figures. They include: South Yorkshire Police, Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Homes, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Sheffield Primary Care Trust, South Yorkshire Probation Service and voluntary organisations.
