A message from the Leader
Dear Fellow Sheffielder,
Campaigning for better services for you and those close to you is my number one priority. I am working really hard, alongside my colleagues, on the issues that matter to local people. Making life better for local residents is what matters to me, and I’d like to take this opportunity now to ask you for your support on a number of campaigns which are there to benefit the people of Sheffield.
Save Our Post Offices
Firstly, let me tell you about our campaign to save our Post Offices in Sheffield. Under closure plans published by Post Offices Ltd, sixteen communities in Sheffield are facing the loss of their local Post Office. We have launched a big campaign to say a resounding ‘no’ to these closures.
Show your opposition to these plans and add your voice to everyone else in Sheffield who’s backing the campaign. You can sign the online 'Save Our Post Office' petition, or download our template letters to contact Post Office Ltd and the independent Post Office watchdog, Postwatch directly. You can also go into any Council library or First Point office anywhere in the city or the Town Hall to add your name to the growing number of Sheffielders who do not want to lose their local Post Office.
Post Offices are vital for local communities, providing essential local services to everyone in the local community. We have six weeks before the final decision is made to gather up as many signatures as possible and make it abundantly clear about the strength of feeling on this issue in the city.
Driving Me Crazy - Report Traffic Hotspots
You have been voting for the traffic hotspots that have been driving you crazy. Voting has now closed and the winning scheme at Bradfield Road will be implemented in the Autumn - See Driving Me Crazy for more information.
Free Green Waste Sacks
And, because I know that local residents love to recycle, just a quick reminder that free green sacks for your garden waste are still available from libraries, First Point and Housing Offices and Town Hall Reception.
I’m committed to making Sheffield a place where everyone matters.
With best wishes,
Cllr Paul Scriven, Leader of Sheffield City Council
