Arriving by Train

The Railway Station and Sheaf Square

Howard Street dramatically improved as major pedestrian gateway
Will be completely transformed, creating an airport standard passenger arrival/departure area and a new pedestrian friendly public space.

There will be clearer links to the city centre and to trams, buses, and taxis. A new taxi rank will be built.

Passenger parking for the station is already provided in the new station multi-storey car park.

Two new Pedestrian 'Supercrossings'

Sheaf Square with water cascades and Cutting Edge sculpture
Two new pedestrian ‘supercrossings’ will replace the complicated roundabout junction at Sheaf Square. They will give pedestrians access to the city centre and particularly the Cultural Industries Quarter and Hallam University. Sheaf Square will welcome visitors to the city.

There will be a series of water features and a large stainless steel sculpture - ‘The Cutting Edge’.

New buildings will replace Sheaf House, Dyson House, and the old Hallam University NMB Union building.

A new Bus Interchange will be located in the reshaped Sheaf Square linking to the Station.
