Audit Commission Report
The Supporting People programme in Sheffield was inspected by the Audit Commission in March 2006, as part of a five year inspection programme of Supporting People. The programme is judged as a good (2 star) service with excellent prospects for improvement. This is the best inspection result in the Yorkshire and Humber region and places us among the top 10% nationally.
The inspectors particularly praised –
• The delivery of clear service improvements which include greater choice and flexibility for users.
• Prioritising of Supporting People aims, and clear outcome measures which link to the overall aims of key partners.
• Clear evidence of ownership of Supporting People by senior officers and elected members.
• A robust performance monitoring framework.
• A value for money approach applied across reviews, which has been rigorous and challenging.
To help us improve, inspectors made two recommendations -
• Strengthening service user involvement across the Supporting People programme.
• Improving and strengthening the relationship with providers.
An action plan is being implemented in response to the recommendations made.
We would like to thank all the service users and providers and other partners who contributed to the inspection and who have played a part in the success of the Supporting People programme.
