The Strategic Commissioning and Partnership Section is committed to transforming the lives of vulnerable adults in Sheffield by improving essential health and social care services. To achieve this we work in close partnership with health and social care organisations in the City.

 

We're understandably proud of our maximum 3-star rating for adults’ social care, with services judged to be good at delivering outcomes with an excellent capacity to improve. Coupled with a maximum 4-star rating from the Audit Commission for the Council’s Comprehensive Performance Assessment, we're moving closer to achieving our vision for the City and its citizens.

 

Our section plays a critical role in delivering our key targets. We've put in place our strategic commissioning framework, and are currently consulting on our strategic commissioning plans and intentions. We continue to build on our very positive relationships with partners because we believe that integrated commissioning arrangements contribute significantly to improved outcomes for our service users and their carers.

  

Good commissioning is at the heart of effective health and social care because it provides opportunities to transform people’s lives through better service delivery. Each year Sheffield City Council invests £1.4m in our section to commission, purchase and monitor adult social care services worth approximately £116m.

In Sheffield, we are fully committed to involving service users and carers in all aspects of commissioning services. We develop services which enable people to take full control, and direct their own services, if that is their wish.  We also work closely with our service providers to meet these needs.
