Independent Living Strategy Consultation
Inclusive Living Sheffield and Partners for Inclusion invite you to an event on Monday, 9th June 2008, 2.30 - 5.00pm at the Town Hall Reception Rooms.
Come and hear what a speaker from the Office for Disability Issues has to say about the Independent Living Strategy, developed by the government in partnership with disabled people. Give your views on how disabled people can be involved in implementing and monitoring the strategy.

Work?...Your Choices event
PDSI hosted a “Work?..Your Choices” event at the Town Hall on 18th of January. The event was open to disabled people, carers, support workers and professionals to explore employment options and ways of overcoming barriers to employment.
Around 160 people attended the event. About 60 of those came to talks and discussions that were running throughout the day, which were given by organisations such as the Job Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau, Bridge Employment, Deploy, Inclusive Living Sheffield, Royal Society for the Blind, and by disabled people themselves.
People who came looked around the information stands and got advice, ideas and information to help them make decisions about what they might want to do in the future. Information and support was available and job brokering to help build confidence and skills, matching people to a suitable employer or vacancy. People were also able to get information on learning opportunities, volunteering opportunities, benefits advice, transport services, and working for Sheffield City Council amongst others.
