MCA Diamond “prioritising” exercise for managers
You can download a fun and effective skills development tool at the bottom of this page. You can use this individually or as a group. This document allows you to rapidly identify;
- what’s in the MCA
- what’s new (not yet common practice/knowledge) enabling you to prioritise areas for skills/knowledge/policy development.
Print the diamonds and matching letters, then stick them together. This creates a set of 'playing cards' to assist people to learn and understand the MCA, and consider what's new. Effectively you will be holding the entire MCA in your hands.
The Three Stories DVD: The Mental Capacity Act
The Office of the Public Guardian offers an MCA DVD free of charge, which depicts three real life stories. It shows how the Act empowers and protects people who may lack capacity to make some decisions for themselves. To request the DVD please phone the Office of the Public Guardian on 0845 330 2900 and ask for the Mental Capacity Act: Three Stories DVD.
