  • Cruse Bereavement Care: anyone can contact Cruse if they want to talk about themselves or someone they know who has been affected by a death.  
 

 
 
  • Carers UK (0207) 490 8818: the voice of carers.  It was set up by carers to improve carers’ lives. 
 
  • Department of Health Caring About Carers: in Caring about Carers the Government made a commitment to provide details of the services or benefits affecting carers on the Internet.
 

 
 
  • ChildLine (0800) 1111: a free 24-hour helpline for children and young people in the UK. Children and young people can call the helpline at any time - day or night.
 
  • Contact a Family (0207) 383 3555: provides support and advice to parents whatever the medical condition of their child.
 
 
  • National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS) (0800) 616101: a "not for profit" children’s charity which offers socio-legal advocacy services to children, young people, parents, carers and professionals. 
 
  • National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) (0808) 800 5000: the NSPCC is the UK's leading charity specialising in child protection and the prevention of cruelty to children. The NSPCC is the only UK children's charity with statutory powers that enable it to take action to safeguard children at risk of abuse.
 
  • Kids Zone: interactive website for children aged between 12 and 16 years - Kids Zone is the place to get help, information and advice about child abuse and what you can do to help it stop. 
 
  • There4me.com: this site is for all 12-16 year-olds living in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.

 
 
  • Ability: Ability's aim is to show that quality of life is related to how free a person is to make their own choices and for a significant number of disabled people, computer technology and the Internet holds the keys to those choices.
 
 
  • Deafblind UK: a website focusing on how the deafblind communicate with each other, and to the hearing seeing world.
 
  • Deaf 24/7: internet resource for all British Sign Language and deafness related information.
 
  • Disabled Living Foundation (DLF): the Foundation is a national UK Charity providing the best possible choice for people who use equipment to live a more independent life. The site contains a huge amount of information and resources on equipment and a range of useful factsheets.
 
 
  • Holiday Care: a national charity which provides information to enable disabled and older people to make independent holiday and travel arrangements.
 
  • Focus on Disability: this site has a wide range of information for disabled people and their carers in the UK.
 
  • Independent Living: information, news, views and products for elderly and disabled people, carers and healthcare professionals.
 
 
 
 

 
 
  • Shaw Trust: a national charity that provides training and work opportunities for people who are disadvantaged in the labour market due to disability, ill health or other social circumstances. 
 
  • Yes2Work: a non-profit making organisation that aims to help people who are out of work because of illness or disability, find and keep jobs.
 

 
  • Age Concern: supports all people over 50 in the UK, ensuring that they get the most from life. 
 
  • Alzheimer's Society: the UK’s leading care and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers.
 
  • Arthritis Care: the UK’s largest voluntary organisation working with and for people with arthritis. 
 
  • Help the Aged (Senior-line) (0800) 650065: Help the Aged is working hard for a world in which older people are valued for their contribution to society, involved in their local communities and fulfilled in their needs, hopes and aspirations.
 
  • Relatives Association (for relatives and friends of older people in residential homes): (0207) 916 6055.
 
  • Department of Health - Keep Warm Keep Well: offers promotional material including an information booklet which provides advice on remaining healthy in cold weather, energy efficiency and grants and benefits available for financially disadvantaged older people, young families and disabled people.
