Ryegate Centre

The Ryegate Children's Centre is a therapy unit for children who have developmental problems affecting the nervous system. Assessment of the child's problem usually requires the expertise of more than one clinical specialist. Following assessment a programme of remedial therapy is drawn up and implemented. 
 
Care for Children and Young people with a form of cancer
 
Sargent Team

The Sargent Team are a specialist team of Social Workers based at the Children's Hospital. They offer financial, emotional and practical support where a child or young person has been diagnosed with a form of cancer. You can contact the team direct on (0114) 271 7406.
 
Care for children and young people with cancer takes place in a specialist ward at Sheffield Children's Hospital and with multi-agency support in the home.
 
The nearest children's hospice is Martin House, Wetherby.

Specialist Social Work Teams
 
There are a number of specialist social work teams for ill children and children with disabilities and their families. 
 
The Jessop Wing at the Hallamshire Hospital

A social work team working with babies 0-2, where they have been identified as having special needs.
 
Children's Hospital Team

A Social Work Team who work with children who are chronically sick aged 0-16.
 
Children with Disabilities Teams

Citywide social work teams that work with children aged 5-18 years. Access is via First Point.

First Point is the Council one-stop-shop in the city centre where you can go to speak to someone about any Council service.
 
First Point is based at Howden House - about 100 yards from the Peace Gardens. It is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday.
