Children's Residential Service

The Children’s Residential Service provides residential care for Looked After Children (LAC) in Sheffield.
We currently operate five homes directly managed by the Local Authority and four homes in partnership with providers from the voluntary/independent sector to a total of thirty-nine children and young people.
Four specialist foster care placements are provided in partnership with NCH (National Children’s Homes) to children who would otherwise be in residential care.

Our Aims

The service aims to provide homes for children and young people who are looked after in residential care; in thriving communities with opportunities to improve quality of life, life chances and achieve outcomes which meet or exceed national minimum standards and are within the ‘Every Child Matters Framework’:

  • Be Healthy
  • Be Safe
  • Enjoy and Achieve
  • Make a Positive Contribution
  • Achieve Economic Well Being

Our residential homes aim to meet the needs of individual children and young people within a caring family setting. We understand that it is important that Looked After Children are not stigmatised or institutionalised which is why our homes are located in typical family housing in residential areas.
