- You can visit companies to help you make your choice instead of Equipment and Adaptations providing standard equipment for you.
- Direct Payments will only be given on equipment recommended by your officer following your assessment.
- Direct Payments are not available for major adaptations.
- Direct Payments are not available for any items that need fixing, e.g. rails/handrails.
Following your assessment a member of the occupational therapy team will discuss their recommendations with you. You need to decide if you wish us to provide the equipment or if you wish to purchase this yourself via Direct Payments. If you have any questions the occupational therapist will be able to help you when they visit.
Local shops will enable you to see and try equipment that has been reccommended. You may wish to visit or contact local suppliers.

Q - If I am recommended a bathlift and I want a shower can I have the payment towards a shower?
A - No. A Direct Payment can only be given for equipment that has been recommended.
Q - How much money will I get?
A - The Direct Payments will be the price the local authority would pay if we provided it.
Q - How many Direct Payments am I allowed if my needs change?
A - There is no limit to the number of payments. However, we can only give a Direct Payment following a further assessment by a member of the occupational therapy team.
