Equipment and Adaptations

This page contains information about the Equipment and Adaptations Service. We can help you if you need to find safer ways to do everyday tasks. We give advice over the telephone or during a home visit. We might be able to provide you with

  • adaptations to your home, such as a ramp or stair lift
  • equipment to make your home easier to live in, such as a high seat to help you use the toilet.

We won't provide equipment that you could buy yourself for under £50, unless it's something which needs fitting.

Our standards - what you can expect from us

After you've requested help from us we aim to

  • assess you within three months
  • send you information about what we can and can't help you with
  • provide most equipment and adaptations within seven days of deciding what you need
  • provide most major adaptations within 12 months
  • advise you about how to cope while you wait for your equipment and adaptations.

You can find out more information about our timescales and standards by downloading our Equipment and Adaptations Team Standards at the bottom of this page.
