Getting help from Social Services

First Point is the Council one-stop-shop in the city centre where you can go to speak to someone about any Council service. First Point is based at Howden House - about 100 yards from the Peace Gardens. It is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday. You, or someone on your behalf, can call in to speak to a member of staff during these times.

The Children and Families Access Team are available Monday to Friday from 8.45 am to 5.15 pm and Friday 8.45 am to 4.45 pm.  If you have an emergency outside of these hours ring (0114) 273 4855 and you will be directed to our Out of Hours service.
 

Hospital Social Work Teams

Social work services may also be provided to patients in hospitals and their families. Speak to the hospital ward staff for more information.
 

Mental Health Services

Mental health services for adults and older people are now provided by 'Sheffield Care Trust ... mental health and wellbeing'. The Trust delivers health and social care services in the city, including a full range of specialist adult and older people's services, psychology and therapy agencies as well as specialist learning disability mental health services.
