Take action straight away if you think a child you know is being abused.

It is important to stop the abuse as soon as possible to prevent the worsening of a child’s health and well being, and possibly, as in extreme cases, even a child’s death.

Remember, the longer abuse goes on the longer it will take for a child to recover. Sometimes abuse gets worse over time if nothing is done and the child suffers increasingly serious harm.

Children are dependent on others for their survival and have a right to be protected and have someone who will act on their behalf.
