Who Can I Foster?
All sorts of children need foster care. Just as all sorts of people can provide it. But there is no ‘typical’ foster care child as they have a wide range of personalities, abilities and backgrounds.
For example some may have experienced emotional, physical, sexual and psychological abuse or neglect. Others might have a disability of some kind and need to be looked after in order to give their family a break. They could be on remand awaiting a hearing, be an unaccompanied child seeking asylum or have lost their parents due to illness or crisis. But from a few hours or days to long term care the one thing that every child shares is the need for stability and support during a difficult time.
As a foster carer you are the person who provides this support and will become vital to helping a child feel safe and secure. For this reason the decision to place a child with you is not taken lightly and we’ll work with you to play to your strengths and achieve the best possible outcome for each young person. What’s more the emotional rewards you’ll receive from providing this care will be immense as you help each young person to create happy memories and positive futures.
