Being a foster carer is a totally unique role. It will challenge you, but it will also provide the very best emotional rewards you can imagine. For these reasons it’s vital that just as you support each child through the good times and the bad – we support you.
So alongside your network of family and friends there are a number of formal and informal resources available that you can access whenever you need to. This is a great job to do. But it is vital for you to understand that you need never do it alone.
Supervising Social Worker
You will have your own, individual Supervising Social Worker who will work with you to offer advice and guidance regarding the best foster care practice.
Foster Carers support groups
These groups give you the chance to meet up with other carers, in similar situations to yourself and make friends, share experiences and give each other advice.
24-hour professional support
We run a dedicated out of hours telephone support service for you. If you need help and advice and you need it right now you can call us at any time.
Mentoring Scheme
There’s no one better to turn to for help and advice than someone who’s been in your shoes. Our foster carers love fostering and are more than willing to help you. So, we can put you in touch with an experienced carer or group of carers who you can turn to for support or just a chat when you need one.
Respite
As in any other family sometimes it is good for children and adults to have a bit if a break and the respite scheme allows carers and looked after children to have one.
Support Services for Looked After Children
Co-located in our building, these offer therapeutic and practical support for carers and children.
Training & Development Worker
To increase the skills you have in order to become an even better carer the Training & development Worker will help you to plan the right training courses.
