What is Fostering?

In its simplest form fostering is about looking after children in your own home for a period of time.  Yes, it’s as simple and complicated as that!  Because when you start to look a little deeper you realise that there are many different types of foster care available to suit the wide range of children who need it. And equally this means you should be able to find the right type for you.

Embarking on the journey to become a foster carer can initially seem quite daunting as theres undoubtedly a lot of information to take on board. Which is why we think it’s important for you to realise straightaway that at every stage you have choices.  That this isn’t a runaway train.  And you can stop and get off should you wish.  So speak to people, ask questions.  This is a life changing decision.  We’ll help you make it – but it’s got to be the right one for you.

Hopefully we’ve given you enough information on these pages to give you all the information you need without information overload!  Once you’ve looked through it you’ll be able to make a decision as to whether fostering is right for you.
