Adopters Reference Group

This page provides information on the Adopters Reference Group in Sheffield, which works with the Sheffield Adoption Service to feed into improvements to services for children and people involved in adoption.

 

 

 

The Adopter Reference Group meets with the Adoption Service Manager and other senior managers involved in services for children.  The meetings are held to discuss adoption issues and to contribute to an action plan to improve adoption services.  The group was formed to give adopters in Sheffield a voice to help inform improvements to the Adoption Service.  The group was originally set up in 2006.

 

 

The Adopter Reference Group is made up of adopters with a variety of experiences of adoption. When the group was first set up its members were representative of ‘categories’ of adopters. The new group is not categorised and is open to all adopters.

 

 Each member is part of the group to share their experiences and to represent other adopter’s views or issues.  If you are an adopter in Sheffield and would like to discuss an issue with a group member or to have your views put forward at a Reference Group meeting please email adoptersreferencegroup@sheffield.gov.uk  The Adoption newsletter includes profiles of members and updates on meetings.

 

Meetings are held bi-monthly and are attended by group members and the Adoption Service Manager.  Managers from service areas relevant to adoption and children’s services will also attend meetings when there are relevant items on the agenda.  Please contact adoptersreferencegroup@sheffield.gov.uk for details of where and when meetings are held.

 

 

Yes!  The group and its meetings are open to any adopters in Sheffield to attend. If you have not attended before and would like to attend we would ask that you let us know (for room booking purposes).
