Adoption
Thinking about Adopting?
Sheffield City Council Adoption Agency caters for the care needs of around 660 children and young people. Weh have a dedicated team for adoption assessment who will be with you every step of the way.
As an adoptive parent you will be able to provide a sense of permanence and belonging that every child needs. Together as a family you will start to build the happy memories and positive lives that you all deserve.
What happens next?
We hope that the information on these pages answers all of your initial questions about adoption. Once you have read through the information contact us through our contact form or give us a call on 0114 273 5075. You will then be invited to an information evening where we can tell you in more detail about what adoption involves, the types of children looking for new families and where you can meet adopters who can tell you about their experiences.
Giving a child a long term home through fostercare
Many people who wish to give a child a new home do not realise that long term fostering (see our Types of Fostering page for more information) could also be a way for you to extend your family.
Children who need permanence placements are often older but still require care, love and attention. As a permanence carer you will receive ongoing support from our permanence team.
To discuss permanence fostering or adoption with us directly please call 0114 273 5075, or use our online contact form.
