City Wide Alarms Service
Get peace of mind in your own home ...
Our service
It can be worrying to live alone, as a minor accident can quickly lead to an emergency.
Our service can help people who live alone to be secure in their independence, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Many people use our service every day just to hear a friendly voice. But if they ever find themselves in difficulty, we organise help and stay in touch until it arrives.
City Wide Alarms provides peace of mind whether you are using it yourself or for somebody you are caring for.
Who can use our service?
Our service is there for anyone who feels a need for the security it can bring. Many of the people we monitor are elderly, but we also help those who feel vulnerable because of disability, a medical condition, or harassment.
Anybody can join the service.
We support thousands of people in Sheffield - people just like you.
Speak to a member of our staff
When you join our service we provide you with a portable alarm pendant, and either adapt your ordinary telephone or provide a special alarm telephone.
Even if you are unable to reach the telephone you can hear and speak through it thanks to a powerful microphone and loudspeaker.
We also ask for some information about you, such as details of friends, relatives or neighbours and your doctor, so they can be contacted if you ever need help. We keep this strictly confidential.
Calling for help
If you do need assistance, all you have to do is press one of the alarm buttons and it automatically connects you to our call monitoring centre.
From there, trained staff have instant access to your information and will quickly contact the person you choose, your doctor, our mobile staff, or the emergency services, as appropriate.
What is the cost?
The full service, including our mobile warden service, is just £3 per week (with a one-off installation charge of £31).
