Bereavement Services are responsible for two crematoria within Sheffield:
- City Road Crematorium S2 1GD
- Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium S8 0HN

City Road
City Road Crematorium opened on 5 April 1905 by the Lord Mayor, Joseph Jones and was the tenth crematorium to be built in the UK. The first cremation took place on 24 April 1905 and to date over 195,000 cremations have been carried out.
The crematorium is situated within the grounds of City Road Cemetery which opened in 1881, and is a traditional building which incorporates two chapels for cremation services.

Facilities at the crematorium include:
- Induction loops for the hearing impaired
- disabled access including provision of wheelchair and disabled parking bays at the rear of the chapel building
- large print and braille service booklets
- disabled toilet.
An extensive range of recorded music is available at the crematorium to accompany services, via the Wesley Music system. Please contact your funeral director or Bereavement Services for further advice.
If required, a recording of the funeral service can be provided by prior arrangement with your funeral director, for an additional cost.
The chapels contain either pipe or electronic organs if a more traditional type of funeral service is required.
Hutcliffe Wood
Hutcliffe Wood Crematorium opened in 1974 and to date has carried out over 73,000 cremation services. Adjoining the crematorium is the Gardens of Remembrance which extend over 9 acres.
The Gardens include structured areas of neat lawns and flower beds along with informal areas to attract wildlife.
