Traffic Control
The Traffic Information and Control Team are responsible for the operation, maintenance and development of the city's traffic control equipment which includes traffic signals, signalled pedestrian crossings, variable message signs, traffic CCTV cameras and the Urban Traffic Control (UTC) system.
Traffic signal faults can be reported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on telephone
0114 273 6666.
An engineer will attend an urgent traffic signal fault within 3 hours.
Please do not report traffic signal faults by e-mail, we are not able to respond immediately, so the fault will not be attended to as quickly as it would be for a telephone report.
Other highway and street lighting faults can be reported on telephone 0114 273 4567.
Enquiries about traffic control issues can be made on telephone 0114 273 6666 during office working hours (09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday).
