Car Share South Yorkshire
Car Share South Yorkshire is a website for people in the county to find others to share a car journey with - giving and taking lifts. Car sharing can save money and help the environment.
When you register on it, Car Share South Yorkshire maps out where you want to travel and matches you with other people taking a similar route.
When two people who travel by car decide to give each other lifts this can share the cost of the journey and take one more car off the road, which helps reduce vehicle emissions and congestion.
Before you start using the website you will probably have questions about how it all works. See the Frequently Asked Questions page which covers a lot of issues, including personal safety/security. The following are some immediate questions you might have. For other questions please contact the Council (details below).
How do I use it?
- Enter your journey details
- Search for other drivers or passengers to share your journey with
- Make contact
When I register, which details become public?
Details that can be seen when the website matches one person with another are:
- First name (or nickname)
- Where each journey starts and finishes (road or postcode sector)
- What time the journey is made and how often
- Gender, age group and smoking preference
