Transport Services is Charter Mark accredited. We procure and manage a fleet of 1,500 vehicles. We hold and manage the Council's HGV and PSV operator licences. Our in house training facilities deliver a wide range of training to staff for a variety of vehicles as well as carrying out taxi driver testing for Legal and Governance.
Our services include:
- We are the Council's central point for help and advice on all vehicle procurement within the Council. This includes leasing, contract hire and vehicle specification.
- Training on different types of hand held equipment as well as Heavy Goods Vehicle and Passenger Transport training.
- We transport around 1,000 special needs pupils and 600 adults to and from schools and day centres.
- Delivering school meals for Sheffield Council's partners and other authorities.
- Providing transport for lunch clubs, respite care and services to further the Council's social inclusion agenda.
- Providing a vehicle valetting service for employees and Council departments.
- Delivering the Council's internal mail to many locations and ballot boxes, polling booths and other equipment at election time.
- Providing advice on any aspect of fleet management.
- We supply passenger transport and other services to external bodies such as Council's, Health Authorities and other partner organisations.

Transport Workshops

Transport Services operates from two vehicle repair workshops; one based at Staniforth Road and the other based at Olive Grove depot. The workshops are Charter Mark accredited. Our workshops currently maintain around 1,500 vehicles and 500 items of equipment. These include vehicles currently belonging to the Council, it's partners and members of the general public.
All Sheffield private hire taxis and Hackney cabs are tested at our Staniforth Road testing depot and all our mechanics are apprentice trained and have regular training and development on new technology.
