Why change the times?

The current times of 8.00-9.30am and 4.30-6.30pm have been in place since 1967. Traffic levels and car ownership have grown significantly since that time and the peak traffic hours have gradually got longer. In certain areas of the city, the afternoon period peak hour loading and waiting restrictions already start at 4.00pm.
