School Entrance Schemes
These are to address safety worries outside schools which include measures to prevent parking where children cross and to encourage drivers to travel at appropriate speeds.
The 2006/07 programme for school entrance schemes include:-
Low Road, Oughtibridge - a zebra crossing and traffic calming linked to additional, Developer funded works.
Darwin Lane - a junction narrowing near the school entrance to help the pupils cross and reduce driver speed.
Bankwood School - traffic calming on Blackstock Road centered on where the school crossing patrol operates.
Waltheof School - traffic calming in front of the school on Beaumont Road North.
Birley School, Thornbridge Avenue - traffic calming and one-way system
The following schemes are to be designed during 2006/07 and constructed in the 2007/08 financial year:-
Hinde House Secondary School, Shiregreen Lane - traffic calming.
Handsworth Grange School, Beaver Hill Road - traffic calming
Greenlands School, Staniforth Road - a build-out to form a narrowing to help pupils cross outside the school.
St Mary's School, Cundy Street - footway widening, traffic calming and one-way system.
