Travel Plans
This section is about Travel Plans with information about how and why to develop both Workplace Travel Plans and School Travel Plans.
Do you sit in queues of traffic wondering what the solution is to the ever-increasing amount of travel we make and the problems that brings? Everyone has a part to play. This includes how organisations and individuals manage their own travel – something that can be done through a Travel Plan.
About Travel Plans
Travel Plans can have a positive impact on:
- Congestion
- Air Quality
- Climate Change
- Health
- Finances
- Access to places
Travel Plans make a difference by encouraging:
- Better travel – travel by public transport, cycle, foot or even more efficient use of cars and other vehicles. It takes up less space on the road, produces fewer fossil fuel emissions, is often cheaper and often involves more physical activity.
- Less travel – travel plans can often encourage fewer and even shorter journeys, which means less congestion, pollution and cost.
Help from the Council
Sheffield City Council can provide both advice and resources to help you produce a travel plan.
If you are from a school that wants to find out more about travel plans, go to the School Travel Plan section.
If you are from an organisation that isn’t a school, go to the Workplace Travel Plan section.
If you would like to see what the Council is doing about its own travel, see the Council Travel Plan page.
