RingGo
You can now pay for your parking at Council car parks and on-street parking by phoning 0114 299 1994. This cashless payment system ‘RingGo’ went live on Monday 18 January 2010.
How it works
After parking dial the local rate number 0114 299 1994, which is shown on pay and display machines in the city. You will need to provide the location code, also shown on signs, your car registration number and the length of time you want to park. Payment will then be taken from your debit/credit card.
The first time you use the system you will need to give full details of your payment card. The next time you will only need to provide its last four digits, as your mobile phone number will be recognised from the first time.
You can extend your stay by mobile phone without having to go back to the car park and you can get a remainder text for when your time is nearly up.
Even though you will have no ticket displayed, no Penalty Charge Notices will be issued as Civil Enforcement Officers can check which vehicles have paid using RingGo.
Cost
Using the service costs 20p on top of the normal cost of parking. It costs another 10p to have a reminder text when your paid for time is about to expire.
Further details
Anyone who wishes to register in advance can do so by visiting the RingGo website. Receipts for parking can also be obtained by visiting this website.
